Environment
Australia is a country in the continent of Oceania, between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. It is in the world's smallest continent, but Australia is the world's sixth largest country, and the largest country in Oceania. The terrain is mostly deserts, with fertile plains in the southeast. Australia's agricultural land percentage was 52.9% in 2016. 16.2% was forest, and 30.9% is other. Australia's environment, like all the environments in many countries today, is facing many detrimental problems. These problems include deforestation, soil erosion, desertification, and the disruption of many different ecosystems due to human development. The Great Barrier Reef is especially threatened by the increased amounts of shipping around its habitat.
Climate
The climate will vary, depending on where you are and what time of the year it is, but overall, Australia's weather is temperate. In Sydney, the area is humid and subtropical. The climate in Sydney is temperate, with hot summers, cool winters, and mild temperatures in spring and fall. The average temperature in summer is 25 degrees Celsius or 77 degrees Fahrenheit.
